The Dr. Clinton Bristow, Jr. Award

History

The Dr. Clinton Bristow, Jr. Awards were established in 2019 by the Theta Chapter Alumni Association of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at the Northwestern University to honor the legacy of their beloved chapter brother.  While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University, Dr. Bristow was one of twelve young African American men who pledged the Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. as members of the 1968 line, “Kappa Ship Black is Beautiful Bismarck“ (B.I.B. Bismarck). A native of Alabama, Bristow earned Bachelor’s, Juris Doctor and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University and a Masters of Business Administration from Governors State University.  He was a lawyer, academic, and ultimately became the sixteenth president of Alcorn State University.  As the President of Alcorn State University, from 1995 until his untimely passing on August 19, 2006, Brother Bristow left his imprint by increasing Alcorn’s enrollment in its graduate and professional programs.  During his tenure, he drew national attention for the number of international students that were enrolled at the university.
