FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE THETA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, INC. ANNOUNCES THE SECOND ANNUAL DR. CLINTON BRISTOW JR. AWARDS CEREMONY FOR NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY’S AFRICAN AMERICAN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS.
Evanston, IL – June 13, 2022 – During the 2022 Homecoming weekend, the Theta Alumni Association, Inc. (TAA) will present two Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Awards to deserving African American undergraduate students at Northwestern University (Northwestern). The TAA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization created by alumni members of the Northwestern University Chapter, the Theta of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Founded in 1911 at Indiana University, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is one of the largest and oldest predominantly African American Greek-letter organizations in the world and espouses the motto: Achievement in every field of human endeavor. Chartered at Northwestern University in 1917, the Theta Chapter is the eighth chapter established by the Fraternity and the oldest African American Greek-letter organization at Northwestern.
The Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Award is named in honor of Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr., a member of the Theta Chapter, initiated in 1968. Dr. Bristow was an outstanding undergraduate leader at Northwestern who later completed a master’s degree, a law degree, and a doctoral degree at Northwestern. After graduation, he focused his talents on education and served as the President of the City Colleges of Chicago, and later as the President of Alcorn State University, where he unfortunately and unexpectedly died in 2006. The TAA seeks to award undergraduate students who demonstrate similar commitments to achievement as exemplified by Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr.
